547boss for hardware shops: sell by the piece or the bag, and know what is left

A hardware shop sells the same screws one at a time and by the box, and the same cement by the bag or by the lorry load. Goods arrive in bulk and leave in small amounts, all day.

When you are not at the counter, it is hard to know what went out, what came in from suppliers and what is really left in the store. 547boss keeps that count for you.

What matters most in a hardware shop

Sell by the piece or by the carton or bag
Set the pack size once, for example a box of 100 screws. Sell one screw or the whole box at the till. Stock is always kept in pieces, so the count never gets mixed up.
How selling by the pack works
Stock taking and adjustments
Count the store and compare it with what 547boss expects. Breakage and damage are recorded as adjustments with a reason, so you can see where stock goes.

Purchasing
Record each delivery from your suppliers. Stock goes up when the goods arrive, so the count is right before the first customer of the day.
